Umed Pun, PhD
is an ornamental horticulturist running Himalayan Flora Enterprises, Godavari. An academic/researcher formerly associated with Tribhuvan University, he is still associated with some varsities. Currently involved in growing ornamental plants, exotic cut flowers, foliages and orchids, he is also a garden consultant working with several architecture design firms.

   

Sarosh Pradhan, B ARCH
is an architect based in Nepal with offices in Kathmandu and Delhi. He is a regular contributor to SPACES and other international design journals, and is a keen writer on specific eye opening subjects and projects related to contemporary works on architecture and design.

   

Kamana Dhakhwa, B Arch
“One must be passionate about architecture to succeed in this field,” says Kamana. She passed out in 2005 from IOE with a first class B Arch degree. Her other interest is writing about her favourite subject, architecture of course. She has had quite a few articles published and is now in Michigan University, Ann Arbor, USA, pursuing her Masters.

   

Mahesh Mahato, B.E.
is the Managing Director of Cosmic Electrical Engineering Associates, Teku, Kathmandu. An electrical engineer, he passed out from the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk, in 1999. He, and his firm, have been involved with numerous projects including Patan Hospital, SBI, Everest Bank, Sunrise Bank, Landmark Multiplex, Pashupati Development Area Project, Elder Universal Pharmaceuticals, Bhairawa, and Instant Food Industries also in Bhairawa.

   

Sushmita Shrestha, B Arch
graduated from Khwopa Engineering College securing 1st position with distinction. Presently, she is a faculty of the Department of Architecture as well as a Masters degree student [in Urban Design and Conservation] at the same institute. She was the recipient of the ‘Best Paper Presenter’ award in the International Conference on Emerging Issues on Research and Development organised by JUSAN of Japan.

 

 

Sampada Malla
is a freelance writer with her works published in leading English and Nepali magazines of Nepal. She has also published a book, “Anayas Ekdin”, an anthology of Nepali stories. She won the award of ‘Travel Writer of the Year’ from the Tourism Board in 2005. Presently, she is working as the program coordinator of Sarvanam Theatre Group.

 

 

Suta Pradhan & Swati Pujari
are 4th year students of architecture at Kathmandu Engineering College. Here’s what they say about their subject: Suta - Architecture is a form of expression, it reflects the creativity of the self as well as that of the community. Swati - Architecture is a form of art, but is in fact greater than art as it is not only beautiful but also useful.
