Of
Scholarly
Bent
Anil
Kumar Regmi has had a consistently good academic
record. He passed his SLC from Ratna Rajya Madhyamik
Vidalaya, Baneswor, in 1995 with 72 % marks. One
must understand that getting good grades in those
days was a more difficult affair than it is
nowadays, what with the later profusion of better
schools and improved teaching methods. He then did a
three year degree overseer course from Thapathali
Campus and passed out with 73% marks. He says, “I
was amongst the first batch of overseer students in
the campus.”
Next, he underwent a five year B. Arch degree course
from Nepal Engineering College (NEC) and, in 2005,
became the Gold Medalist of his batch besides being
adjudged the best in thesis presentation. He earned
a first division with 3.49CGPA. Now, besides
practising what he has learned professionally, he is
also pursuing M. Sc in Construction Management from
NEC, Center for Advanced Studies, Lalitpur. So, one
can see that Anil has had a relatively long, and
successful, academic career, and one that still has
not ended.
At first sight too, the architect gives the
impression of being a man of serious bent and one
can imagine that he probably enjoys academics as a
subject in itself. Born in Jyotisi Danda of Syangja
District to Land Revenue Officer Guru P Regmi and
Bhagwati Regmi, Anil has a younger brother, Udip,
who, yes, as can be guessed in most instances today,
is studying in the United States. Will that be a
destination for Anil as well? One cannot say, but it
probably will be, seeing as to how he seems to revel
in scholarly activities. And, of course, it goes
without saying that a Ph D is what most scholars
aspire for.
Anil gives his date of birth as 11th September 1981,
which makes him only 25 today. Young, by all
accounts, and so, a Ph D in the future is certainly
on the cards. In the meanwhile, the bespectacled
architect with the serious demeanour has started his
own consulting firm called AN-Arkitects Consult
(Pvt) Ltd in Shantinagar, Kathmandu. In 2003, he
worked as a trainee architect with TEKTON Consult,
Koteswor, and rejoined them as a full fledged
architect in 2005 where he worked for a year under
the able tutelage of Architect Binayendra Shrestha.
Among his recently finished works has been the
renovation of Don Bosco College in Naya Baneswor,
Kathmandu.
