4.5 Internal Planning Concept
The exhibition of traditional artifacts and culture will be based on a traditional setting rather than a modern one. The interior of any building plays an important role in achieving convenience and safety to the users and they should express freedom of expressions within each functional unit. Rearrangement of furniture should be done from time to time.

Central atrium
Main dominating features
· Mix setting - man and museum
· Cultural mixing
· Interaction - people to people
· Provide choice of various sites for visit
· Here, one can easily find out about what is going on in each gallery
· Also referred to as refreshment zone
· It creates buffer spaces among different functions

4.6 Approach To Architecture Envelop (Building Form And Shape)

The overall architectural features of the museum are developed on the concept of three basic human behavioral characteristics:

1. Level of conscience
· Level 1 - ignorant level - nothing known
The square is one of the most stable forms in the universe and next is the rectangle.

· Level 2 - Intellectual level - Active level
Triangle symbolizes the human aspiration to know more and to do better - gradual increment.

· Level 3-Metaphysical level
Circle symbolizes the way of saying after knowing something but it is undefined.

4.7 An Approach To Landscape Design

Landscape is designed purely for enjoyment and relaxation and has been done keeping in mind the needs and psychology of visitors. Both hard and soft landscape elements can be used in landscape design. Introduction of water bodies and wetlands will also be an interesting feature. It should be taken into account that site vegetations and the landform can influence the immediate thermal environment. So, landscaping not only enhances the visual quality of the site but also helps in modification of the site environment. It helps in:

· Channeling of cool summer breezes
· Sun shading
· Wind screening
· Energy conservation
· Noise control
· View control
· Pollution control

As per requirement, both deciduous and evergreen trees can be used along with bushes, shrubs and grasses as soft landscape elements. The pathways, sundecks, outdoor sittings, pavements, etc. can be included as hard landscape elements. In a museum complex, the parks and recreational areas designate the use of external outdoor spaces as apart form the internal spaces through a scientific approach. Visitors and staff would certainly like different outdoor spaces and elements such as:

· Natural trees and greenery
· Peace and quiet places - sun and shade
· Water bodies
· Places for rest
· Places for congregation

The landscape should be done in such a way as to match the building’s design. Parks can be arranged using different shapes and patterns in accordance with the shapes and patterns of the buildings. Elements placed in parks and open spaces, like benches, lighting, trees, gates, etc. should be comfortable and convenient. Their design and placement require careful consideration.

5. Conclusion
In general, museums in Nepal are very drab and unattractive to visitors, particularly to children. The display of artifacts in most of the museums are dull and drab. It is necessary to introduce new and attractive display techniques with added elements of audio-visual, motion and movement, and introduction of specific talking time sessions for attracting and benefiting visitors of all age groups.

Museum planning is an interaction between purpose, requirements and conditions of display of artifacts according to the main theme of the museum. All aspects and requirements of the museum should be decided by an architect in consultation with the museum manager and the curator. The designer, as a creator of buildings, has to understand display systems and sequence requirements for making the right design decisions. He has to decide on the best viewing angles and distances, background and lighting along with safety and security of articles on the drawing board itself.

The main purpose of a museum is to display artifacts to visitors, thus the travel distance should be considered. Finally, design approach to museum planning is not a single person’s creation but needs the co-operation and team effort of all, mainly the creator and the curator.
